regular post, turned book
Well, here we are in late August, I was on a rather aggresive start on a training plan for a late September marathon. Started late to give my body a break after running the Northface Endurance 50 mile ultra in Bellingham on June 6th. I think its important to listen to your body and adjust your activities accordingly. So the break was important, but when I started running full time again I decided to take the chance and jump into some 40-50 mile weeks with tempo and speed runs included to boost my running. It felt good to go out and log in 9 mile tempo runs and feel great about running the next day. So I finally ended up stressing my lower left leg enough so I couldn’t keep up the momentum. Duh! But that’s alright, I am looking forward to great running all the way through fall and winter. I want to run the Bellingham Waterfront 15k, a true Bellingham mainstay, and the Padden mudfest this fall as well. I might be able to do the Bellingham Marathon in September, but I want to focus on healthy running with the long term in mind. I love just getting out and enjoying my time in the morning huffen and a puffen in my gravel pit, where I run the most. And the bonus is looking forward to a fun race day with a really cool group of fellow runners. Thanks for all your encouragement and feedback, you are a part of the reason this is so worth while.

Pain in my left calf is still nagging. I have once again proven the law’s of overtraining. But on the bright side, I can still run enough to stay on my running streek and enjoy my morning quiet time ( striding time).

8 mile road run
